About Me

Ian works within the Environment, Product liability and Regulatory sub-group of our London Dispute Resolution practice. He specialises in product liability and environmental litigation with a focus on complex, large-scale disputes. Ian also has experience of providing consumer law, product safety and environmental regulatory advice to clients, including those in the healthcare, consumer products and energy sectors.

His experience includes advising:

  • a major international energy company in the successful defence of High Court group litigation proceedings alleging environmental damage resulting from a large infrastructural project in South America.
  • a large, FTSE 100 healthcare client in relation to ongoing multi-jurisdictional product liability proceedings in respect of a range of medical devices.
  • a banking client with regard to a series of regulatory investigations across several jurisdictions.
  • a food industry client in relation to regulatory compliance matters in respect of newly acquired manufacturing sites.
  • various clients in relation to product safety, consumer rights and environmental law obligations and compliance.

Ian graduated with an MA (Oxon) from Christ Church, Oxford, before joining Freshfields in 2009. Whilst at Freshfields, Ian has spent time on secondment to a major client in the energy sector, as well as to our Berlin and New York offices.
